Hello
everyone and welcome to “Faraway countries” I’m your host Bek. “Faraway
countries” is a podcast that reviews country where I’m originally
from Kyrgyzstan. Today I am going to tell about geography of my country. Do you
know there is a mountain called “Jenish Chokusu” or “Peak Victory” which is
highest mountain in Tian Shan mountain system at 7 439 meters or 27 406 feet
tall? Do you know there is 7th deepest lake in the world called “Issyk
Kul”? Stay with me and you going to know some knew for you facts about
Kyrygyzstan.
Kyrgyzstan
is a country of nomad people, who lived there long ago Soviet Union, Russian
Imperia or invasion of Genghis Khan. 2200 years ago there lived Kyrgyz people and
borders of their territory was much bigger then what we have now. Under attacks
of enemies people were gathering on mountains and know our country surround by
mountains 90 % of territory is mountains. There is mountain called “Jenish Chokusu”
which located between China’s and Kyrgyzstan’s border is the second tallest mountain
at the Commonwealth of Independent States. There was
expedition to this mountain in 1955 year by two groups of alpinists one of that
group Almaty team climbed to an altitude of 6930 meters, but fell under a snow
storm and from 12 alpinists survived only one.
One of the attractions at Kyrgyzstan is the
lake Issyk Kul. It is the 7th deepest lakes in the world 668 meters
deep and second largest mountain lake behind lake Titikaka in the Andes South America.
Water of this lake is salty, people says that it is healing water. Because of
lake on high altitude there is only two month of swimming season if it is warm
year it could be three month second part of June, July, August and first part
of September. The Lake is never freezes even during the cold winter temperature
can drop below 0 Fahrenheit. Lake rich in fish and local people fishing them.
There is a lot of trout which is delicious.
This is end of part one of my podcast. If you interested
in Kyrgyzstan just visit it. In second part of my podcast I will tell you about economy of my country. That’s all for today. Thanks for listening everyone, and stay
tuned for my next podcast bye-bye.
